WILLIAM B. TRAVIS HIGH SCHOOL 1211 EAST OLTORF STREET AUSTIN, TEXAS 78704-5799 February 12, 2000 To Whom It May Concern: I am writing this letter on the behalf of Dylan Jones and Anthropos Music. The purpose of this organization is to provide free private lessons to students who otherwise could not pay for these lessons on their own. Anthropos Music also provides all of our students with opportunities to learn about music and culture from all over the world through their masterclasses and workshops. I was first approached by Mr. Jones about Anthropos Music during the Spring of 1998. In the last two years, the program has grown to provide a desperately needed service on a consistent basis. As a band director in the Austin ISD for seven years, I realize that, because of time constraints, I do not have the opportunity to work with my kids on an individual basis as much as needed. I also do not have the chance to expose them to all the different styles of music that I would like. Because of this, I feel like programs such as Anthropos Music are extremely valuable to all music programs in Austin. Our students are now given the opportunity to experience a music education on a level far beyond that of the basic classroom setting. Thank you for considering this program for future funding by your office. Sincerely,
Jacques R. Brown, |
